Jose Cerdan (Acens)


Jose Cerdán is a serial entrepreneur and successful businessman born in Zaragoza in 1966. He is also pilot and an enthusiastic of aviation world.

Jose Cerdán is the Chief Executive Officer of acens Technologies- the leading Spanish provider of hosting and housing services and telecommunications solutions for the enterprise market and a pioneer in the development of accommodation solutions in the cloud- since 2007.

In 1990, being only 20 years old, he was a visionary realizing of technology opportunities in Spanish market and founding Ei System (PC City). The largest computer superstore and the first manufacturer of computers in Spain.

In 1999 he sells Ei System to Dixon Group (PC City) and he set up a new company, PeopleCall, which became pioneering Voice IP operator of reference in the European IP communications market. This stage overlapped with the launch and management of the aviation companies, Intercopters (helicopters Company), Alamo Aviation and Bravo Airlines, last one operates to Africa with 757 airplanes.

Previous joining acens, Cerdán, was a member of the board of directors and advisors since its foundation. Leading acens since 2007, the company has revamped its business, increased its turnover over a 114% and rised employment by a 61%. In June 6, 2011, Telefónica – one of the world´s largest telecommunications companies announce an agreement under which the latter acquired 100% of acens company.

He currently holds the acens CEO position while providing advice to several important companies in the Spanish and international market as well as private and public bodies and institutions and universities. Since March 2012 he is one of the members of the High Level Group of Experts elected by the Government to define the strategy for the Information Society, taking care of issues around cloud technologies, entrepreneurship and privacy.

Jose Cerdán has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors. He is Honorary Chairman of Madrid Vivo Foundation joint with Juan Abelló and Iñigo Oriol among others. Cerdán is also a distinguished member of FAES (Foundation for social studies and analysis), Rafael del Pino Foundation and Fundación Derechos Civiles.
