Hans Peter is a high-tech executive and successful serial entrepreneur who has spent his career at the intersection of technology innovation and empowering consumers. He has invented several novel software applications and built businesses around them.
Hans Peter is currently head of the innovation office in Nokia’s Location and Commerce business unit where he is leading the incubation of new imaging, social and location based products and web services. He also a member of the extended CTO leadership team and works closely with Nokia Growth Partners, Nokia’s Venture Capital investment arm.
In 2005 Hans Peter co-founded Plum, acquired in September 2009 by Nokia. Plum was one of the first web and mobile applications for private social networking and group conversations, targeted at real world social groups such as families, close friends and co-workers.
In 1996 Hans Peter founded Post Communications a pioneering email marketing software-as-a-service (SAS) company. Post was acquired by Netcentives in 2000. Prior to Post Hans Peter co-founded DiVA which brought digital video editing to consumers in the early 90s. DiVA was acquired by Avid Technology in 1993 where he was CTO of the desktop video group for two years before moving to Silicon Valley. Hans Peter has also held positions earlier in his career at Apple in Tokyo, and at CERN in Geneva (the Center for European Nuclear Research).
Hans Peter is the author of The Engaged Customer (Harper Business, 2000) http://bit.ly/97Evd8 , a NYT best selling book on Email Relationship Marketing. He has testified at US Senate and FCC hearings on Internet privacy and spam and has addressed more than 50 conferences in the past several years on topics ranging from the new models of sharing and social collaboration on the Internet, to privacy, entrepreneurship and the broader impact and influence of technology on individuals.
